Koozies are the one wedding favor that guests genuinely take home and keep using, which is a very good reason not to print the same line as everybody else. Below are more than 130 sayings, sorted by tone and by event, with the character count next to each one so you can see at a glance whether it will fit.

What should you put on a wedding koozie?
One line that makes someone smile, plus the names and the date underneath in smaller type. That is the whole formula, and it is the layout that has held up for years. The joke goes on top because it is what gets read across a room. The names go underneath because that is what makes the koozie worth keeping once the wedding is over.
You have a three inch square to work with, which is roughly 12 to 14 characters on one big line, or 18 to 20 per line across two. Every saying below is listed with its character count so you do not have to guess.

A name line is the difference between a koozie somebody keeps and one that goes in the recycling with the paper plates. There are four formulas that reliably work.

The surname pun test
Everybody wants a pun on the last name and most surnames do not give you one. Here is the test: say it out loud to somebody who does not know the couple. If they get it in under two seconds, print it. If you have to explain it, you are about to order two hundred koozies that need a footnote. A plain name and date beats a pun that lands at half speed, every time.

A line that fits where the wedding actually is beats a generic one every time, and it is the easiest way to make a koozie feel like it was made for that day rather than ordered from a list.

These are on every koozie list on the internet, which means a fair number of your guests have already been handed one. That does not make them bad, and two of them are genuinely classics. It does mean you should choose them on purpose rather than by accident.
How to lay it out so it actually looks good
Joke on top, names underneath. The line people read from six feet away goes big across the middle. Names and date go below it at roughly half the size. Reverse that and you get a koozie that says two names and nothing else.
Keep it to two lines of large type. Three lines of anything can be read at arm’s length and not across a room. If your saying needs three lines, it is a card, not a koozie.
One imprint color is standard. Which means contrast is the only thing doing any work. Light ink on a dark koozie and dark ink on a light one. Gold on blush looks lovely on screen and disappears at dusk, which is exactly when people are holding it.
Both sides is usually included. A lot of printers, ours included, print both sides as standard. That is the easiest win in this whole article: put the joke on one side and the names and date on the other, and you stop trying to cram everything into one square.
Do not center a date under a long line. A short date sitting under a wide line looks unbalanced. Either match the widths roughly, or move the date to the second side.
One thing worth checking before you order
Ask for a digital proof and look at it at actual size on your phone rather than zoomed in on a laptop. Type that looks confident at 200 percent frequently looks thin at three inches across, and it is a five minute check that prevents the only koozie mistake that cannot be fixed.
How many koozies do you need?
Order for about eighty percent of your guest count, and round up to the nearest packing quantity. Not everyone takes one, a few people take two, and the two roughly cancel out. For 150 guests, 120 is comfortable and 150 removes the question entirely.
The exception is an outdoor summer wedding, where koozies get used rather than pocketed and you want one per guest plus a margin. If they are going in welcome bags as well as on the bar, count both.
